Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Vernika resides and works in New Delhi. Totally self-taught and painting in acrylics for the past eight years, she tried her hand at sculpting and hasn’t looked back since.
The flexibility and movement of human figures interest her and are brilliantly executed in her paintings and sculptures. Most of her works are inspired by athletics as she believes the body experiences full freedom of movement during any such activity. She also has a series of balloon art, in both paintings and sculptures.
She paints independently, seeking out what interests her the most, specifically abstracts. She uses paints of variable densities and mediums one over the other to depict her emotions in the form of elements of nature. The process includes layering the canvas 2-3 times which thickens and gives an earthy texture to the base while the top layer is done using slightly glossy sprays giving the works a matt-gloss contrast.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Warwick and has successfully completed courses such as Art History, Business & Writing from the Sotheby’s Institute of Art.
